Terms of Service

Last updated: July 6, 2026

These terms apply to Heron, a macOS application for setting up, capturing, and debugging your own network traffic ("the app"), and to the getheron.app website. By purchasing or using Heron you agree to these terms.

Your license

A Heron license is a one-time purchase, per person. You may activate and use the app on the Macs you personally use; any specific activation limit is shown at the time of purchase. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or your license key.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo Payments is the seller of record for your transaction: it handles checkout, payment methods, invoicing, and applicable taxes under its own terms. We receive your order details (such as your email address and license information), never your full payment details.

Updates

Your license covers the major version of Heron you purchased (for example, all 1.x releases), including bug fixes, compatibility maintenance, and feature updates within that major version. Significant new capabilities may ship as a future paid major version; existing customers get upgrade pricing.

Acceptable use

Heron is a debugging tool. HTTPS inspection is explicit and opt-in: the app only decrypts traffic for domains you deliberately add, on devices you configure yourself. You agree to use Heron only to inspect traffic you are authorized to inspect — your own devices, your own apps, or systems you have permission to debug — and to comply with the laws that apply to you.

No warranty

Heron is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we do not guarantee it will be error-free or fit for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Refunds

See our refund policy.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
